JOB OPPORTUNITY – Exhibitions Assistant

Presentation House Gallery / The Polygon Gallery are looking for two Exhibition Assistants to join us this Summer.

 

With a mandate to exhibit and disseminate photography and media art, emphasizing contemporary practices within a context of historical and international art-making, Presentation House Gallery organizes national and international exhibitions, produces award-winning publications, and offers engaging public events and art education programs. Some of the world’s most important artists, both local and international, have been featured at the Gallery–from acclaimed Vancouver visual artists Stan Douglas and Ian Wallace to leading international figures such as Ansel Adams and Andy Warhol.

 

In Fall 2017, Presentation House Gallery will move into its new home: The Polygon Gallery. In preparation for the move, the Gallery seeks two Exhibitions Assistant to work with the Director of Operations and Exhibition Production and the Gallery Manager on two main projects: 1) Preparing the Gallery’s exhibitions archive for the move to The Polygon Gallery, and 2) Assisting with the installation of N. Vancouver, The Polygon Gallery’s inaugural exhibition.

 

The successful candidates will be a current undergraduate or graduate student in archival studies, library studies, museum studies or a related discipline, ideally with an interest in and familiarity with visual art and/or art history. They will have excellent research and organizational skills, an impeccable attention to detail, and the ability to work independently on a sustained project. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel is required.

 

The successful candidate must be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada; be legally entitled to work in Canada; be between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of employment; and be registered with Young Canada Works online. Salary / Hours: $16 per hour, 37.5 hours per week
