Tichý

An overview of the recently discovered Czech photographer, Miroslav Tichý, the first exhibition of his work in a public institution outside of Europe. The show will feature an extensive selection of unique prints as well as the artist’s handmade camera and ephemera.

The primary photographic subject of Czech photographer Miroslav Tichý has been women in the streets of his small hometown in Moravia. Born in 1926, from the 1950s through the mid 1980s, he shot hundreds of images daily with hand-made cameras imaginatively cobbled together from old tins, toilet rolls and cigarette boxes, producing luminous, poetic effects.
